How often do water bills come?
Water bills come 4 times a year, every three months.
Why does a semi-detached house only have one water bill?
Semi-detached houses have only one connection and one water meter of Haminan Vesi, based on which the entire property’s water consumption is billed.
Why are we billed for 3 m3, even though no water is used at all?
It is not water cubes, but the basic fee for 3 months. The basic fees must always be paid, even if the water is not used at all.
What if the water meter breaks?
If you notice that the water meter is frozen or broken, contact Haminan Vesi immediately. The costs of replacing a water meter broken due to freezing or otherwise due to the customer’s carelessness will be invoiced to the property owner.
What is the water hardness?
Hamina’s network water is soft (approx. 3 °dH), so there is no need to add salt to dishwashers. However, you should follow the device manufacturer’s instructions.
Why does water taste bad in the morning?
When the water is standing in the house’s plumbing system during the night, it warms up a little, which gives it a musty taste. You should run the water in the morning until the water becomes fresh.
Why is the water gray and cloudy?
Gray colour and cloudiness is explained by the air in the water, which is completely natural and harmless. When standing still, the water clears from bottom to top in a couple of minutes. Gray colour is almost always noticeable in hot water.
What if there comes no water from the pipes?
If there comes no water, you should first find out if the house is being repaired and if the break is due to that. There may also be an unexpected water leak in the area, about which the customers could not be notified in advance. Current known disturbance situations will be updated to disturbance situations.
Can water bills be billed directly from the tenant?
From 2020, invoicing can no longer be transferred to the tenant. Haminan Vesi can only invoice the owner of the property (= the other party of the contract).
What can’t be put down the drain?
You must not put anything that does not belong in the drain, such as: hygiene products, hair, dental floss, grease, oil, leftovers, toilet paper roll (not even “flushable”), hazardous waste.

The estimated average annual consumption of one person is 50 m3 / year.
Leaking water fixtures should be repaired, because even seemingly harmless drips can cause significant water costs.
